Since the six founding members started the organization back in 1944, they have moved mountains. Each year, over 100,000 members around the globe get the help they need to live productive, rewarding, and happy lives.

Fountain House has a mission to help their member recover from mental illness in whatever way they can. Whether it’s housing, employment, or higher education, Fountain House is there. They build up their member’s confidence by building their skill set and raising their self-esteem. It turns out that each year 20 percent of the world has to address some sort of mental illness. That makes a lot of the world. Fountain House advocates for people suffering from mental illness by changing the public’s perception of them.

The organization has a very effective program that directly helps their members. 42 percent of their members have stable employments. This is a far cry from non-members at 15 percent. When it comes to education, 77 percent of Fountain House members are high school graduates, compared to 32 percent of non-members. In addition, 99 percent of members have stable housing.
