Russell Gimelstob Transitions From Tennis To The Financial Industry


Russell Gimelstob is a former tennis player of distinction. In 2013, he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at a half-time event at Newark Academy. This academy honors a former student each year who had distinguished themselves by their sportsmanship, leadership, and accomplishments.

He was the captain of Newark Academy’s tennis team in 1995, 1996, and 1997. Russell Gimelstob helped four teams reach the state championship series, winning all of them. He was also a member of three teams that won the Tournament of Champions. Refer to This Article for more information

He was an All-State selection for all four years that he attended high school. Upon graduating from the academy, he attended Cornell University where he continued to play tennis. During his sophomore year, Russell Gimelstob was undefeated in doubles play. He was named the captain of the team in his senior year. In each of the four years he attended this university he was an Academic All-Ivy and Academic All-American awards winner. After earning his bachelor’s degree at Cornell in 2001, Russell Gimelstob earned a Master’s in public administration degree. He joined Goldman Sachs where he was in their Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities Division. In 2003, he joined the company’s real estate investment division. In this role, he worked on lending transactions to buy commercial real estate.

Russell Gimelstob joined Dune when it was launched in 2005. He is now a partner, the managing director, and the head of acquisitions. He is also on the company’s Investment Committee. He has made investments in companies across the United States. Russell Gimelstob is focused on executive investments in companies on the West Coast. It was in 2013 that Russell Gimelstob was named as a partner at Dune. In 2017, he was made the head of acquisitions.
